2008/9 fireblade recalls
Does anybody know how the dealers mark the bike and where to show the radiator hose and clutch mods have been done?
Mine is only 2 weeks old and the pdi check list has a tick against it but another dealer put my reg number into the pc and said mine needed it still?
I hope its just a time lapse from the fact i only have had the bike a short while that it hasnt been updated at honda by my supplying dealer!
Im told after the mods there's a sticker or engraving done on the frame?
Any clues?
Thanks...........

Re: 2008/9 fireblade recalls
The radiator mod is only changing a hose clip, so i wouldnt worry about it, The clutch mod can be checked at any Honda dealer, best one for you is Abingdon Honda ask for stuart or Colin, If not book it in with them.
Theres no stickers or engraving done its all computer work.

Re: 2008/9 fireblade recalls
i met a guy with a CBR1000R8 and he's had his done and had a letter from honda before!
The clutch mod i was told was because of a chance a fault could cause the plates to brake up in the oil and all that follows.........

Re: 2008/9 fireblade recalls
Water pump retaining clamp = Jubilee clip was the first recall
Clutch replacement was the 2nd recall
My bike has had both done and the dealer has indicated this with a stamp on the recall letter I received from Honda UK and 2 punch marks on the headstock of the bike to visually indicate it has been done.
Contact Honda UK with your chassis # and they will tell you if yours is one of the affected ones and they will also tell you if it has been rectified or not.

Re: 2008/9 fireblade recalls
you are most welcome, I will just add there was nothing wrong with my clutch or clamp but saw no reason to not get a years worth out of the old clutch and then get a new one
means I get a bit more life out of it FOC.

Re: 2008/9 fireblade recalls
Now then
I had a hose clamp go on me R1 while acting like a TW#T
revving the tits off it on the Campsite at Donnington Grand Prix 2001 (before MotoGP, remember them
) Steam everwhere, wondered what the hell had happened
Limped home on the Sunday evening stopping at the motorway services twice to top up the radiator reserve tank with warm wqater outta the tiolets
I soon got the replacement done before I even got the recall letter .
My advice is get it done ASAP, you just never know when or what is gonna happen. If your hooning on the road and a hose clip goes and the steam potentially shooting up to your visor leaving you affectively blind for a short while as your brain works out what's just happened could spell disaster
